Trustee Floyd Jones Sr. was born 2/27/1929 in Manchester Township, Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Thomas Autry Jones and Minda Jane Ray. (Founders of William Chapel Church) He peacefully took his "earthly leave" and went with the the Angel of God on Wednesday, October 24th at his home.
At an early age Floyd accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the Body of Christ. He joined Williams Chapel Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his health begin to fail. Floyd or "Pee Pee" was a devoted member and served in several church capacities. During his life, he served as church treasurer, bus driver, custodian, lawn and grounds keeper and cemetery care taker.
Trustee Floyd attended Anne Chestnutt High School and Fayetteville Technical Community College. He retired after from Federal Civil Service after more than 30 years at Fort Bragg. He started with Post Engineers, and ended with the Fort Bragg School System. Known for his dedicated hard work ethics, he would go to work for local churches, and several commercial establishments.
He was married to Juanita Lucas on September 17, 1948. At the time of his passing, they had completed 70 devoted years of marriage where God blessed them with six sons. They are Floyd Jr. of Maryland, Christoper Sr (Margaret) of Colorado Springs, CO, David ( Jo Ann) of Virginia Beach, VA. Alfred (Evangeline) of Severn, Maryland, Stephen (Marcia) of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Roger (Tanya) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Under God's Grace, none preceded him in death. His descendants includes many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great- great-great-grandchildren.
